A while back i replaced all my interior lights with LED bulbs as well as the license plate, trunk lights. I would like to do the same with my brake and turn signal lights. A friend of mine mentioned that the brake lights dont make a big difference, due to the red color, rather its LED or not it will look the same. Has anyone replace their brake lights with LEDs? If so, is it noticeably brighter? 2005 Stype R.

 

No. I did the exact same upgrades you did. Reverse, brake, turn etc. lighting is ground switched, and LEDs for some reason do not like that setup, even with polarity correctly observed. Reverse LEDs seem to "bleed" current, and will be on faintly even when not in use. There are numerous threads about this; all with no success. Therefore, save your money.

I have recently converted my tail lights, side markers, and turn signals to LED (amazon.com, ebay.com, carid.com). I live in an area where it gets real foggy most of the year. I do notice a more true and much brighter appearance than stock. I've compared them side by side as I've recently had the pleasure of purchasing another S-type. I love the way the LEDs show bright and true!!! All I need is the rear lighting diagram to figure out where to wire my converter so as not to throw any brake/turn signal codes. That's where I'm currently stumped.

 

What bulbs did you use? Can you post a list of the bulbs? I would like to change them over as well, but I am not sure of the quantity and bulb number to purchase.

 

For my '02:
Interior (foot and rear overhead) uses T-10 LEDs. I used cool white.
Map lights were 39mm festoon.
License plate lights were also T-10.
In my older post, I backed off tail, turn and reverse LEDs, and haven't changed the vanity mirror ones yet.
The best, and longer lasting ones I installed were from Amazon.com (I think they were the JDM brand).
