At a loss - 5R55N issue, pilot bushing?
I have a 2000 S-Type 4.0 and have been having trans issues for awhile now. I had a slight slip going on back in Jan so I did a flush/fill and everything seemed fine for a couple months. However, beginning of October it started acting up again so I just babied it as much as I could before something let go(end of Oct) and there was fluid everywhere. I found a rebuilt trans w/ just 6k on it and had it shipped for $925. While my mechanic had the broken trans out he saw that I needed those 2 rubber disc/plate pieces in the drivetrain. I drove it yesterday for the first time and it has a shutter in it from a dead stop and still a little shutter from 1st to 2nd. My mechanic thinks that it's the pilot bushing in the output shaft that's causing the shutter. Can't find the bushing or a complete drivetrain bushing kit for the car. It makes like a whine when the car reaches about 60mph when you first take your foot off the gas and when you touch lightly. The last 11+ months have been terrible and I've sunk over 3 large on drivetrain and suspension replacement. Can anyone help me confirm that the problem is what my mechanic thinks. I've been reading alot on here over the last year or so. Some great members and posts. Thanks in advance. -Adam
