Default Low Side Port

2000 S-Type 3.0 v6. Sorry if this has been covered, but I find it impossible to keep searching, and the answers are so confusing. My understanding so far is that the AC is recharged through the low port, and the low port is located in the engine compartment, but I had it re-charged five years ago, and the mechanic told me the port is located under the driver's side front tire, and you turn the wheel to the right to access it. I need to re-charge it again, and I am so confused!

Thanks very much!

It is behind the drivers side tire towards the control arms.

To add the port is literally right off the compressor if I recall correctly.

For an early model V6, please see post #36 here for the exact location:

"The low side port is directly on the compressor, which is at the bottom forward left corner of the engine. I was thinking "aft" of the tire, when perhaps "inboard" would have been a better description for a literal CDO type such as myself. For anybody else searching for the low side port, it's actually easier to reach from the front of the car. Measure approximately 14" inboard of the inner edge of the front left tire, and approximately 3.5" forward of the front crossmember. Access is super easy once you realize where the port is located."

I thought that was the case. I live in Mexico, and many of the mechanics are very efficient and resourceful if they know what they are doing. The mechanic I was using seems to be good, but he has never re-charged a Jaguar S-Type air conditioner before (or any Jaguar for that matter) Fortunately he said that he did not have the right fittings or I think he would have tried to re-charge through the high port because that is what he told me. I took it to a guy in town, and he went under the car with gauges and refrigerant and had it done in fifteen minutes. Four hundred pesos - about $22.00. Everything is working well. My Jaguar is still purring.

Thanks again!
