Default LUG NUTS ?

Well this has been one long ordeal. Brake pads for my 06.

Finally got in a complete set
of Akebono Euro pads " thanks h20boy " .

Guess I have to eat the rear set of EBC Redstuff “because they do not make a front set.

Figure that one out , why would they make the rear set but not the FRONT SET?[sm=badidea.gif]

MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. IT ABSOLUTELY HAS NO LOGIC WHAT SO EVER.
Trust me I have looked High and Low , they ain't out there.

Well made a comment a few post ago about Cheap Lug Nuts on the Jaguar.

So now I am finally making time to track down lug nuts and . . . .

All these option’s are killing me [sm=headbang.gif], questions like :Hex ¾ or 13/16 , thread ½ -7/16 – 12mm -14mm

Heck I don’t know what I need.

HELP PLEASE

As Always Thanks

Like me, I also ate the RedStuff pads, for nostalgic purposes later I suppose. I haven't even discarded them yet. They have maybe 50 miles on them too...sad.

Glad the Akebonos worked out for ya! Notice any decrease in brake dust yet?

About your lug nuts, not sure why so confused. Do you have to replace the old ones, and does it really matter what size OUTSIDE it is? I may be missing the bigger question here as to your dilemma.

H2oBoy I have not installed the new pad's because . . . . . "ready for a long story?" :

Last month I was experiencing a fault message in my display.
It said Restricted Performance. I posted a message on this BB but no one seemed to have the
Answer. Which is very unusual because you guy’s are the best resource of informational out there.

Well I ask one of the guy’s in my service department “we work in a niche market that use’s medium hp engines”. So my tech say’s : Restricted Performance is either Air or Fuel. So he proceeds to investigate
“he will tackle anything” and tell’s me I need a new fuel filter. Which as anybody knows is located behind the front driver side tire. So he proceeds to jack my car up “with that cheap Jaguar jack ’ Then attempt’s to remove the tire , well the cheap Jaguar lug nut’s are two parts and the outer part strip’s off. Which in turn rounds the head off the main lug nut.

So I ask him of he could replace the fuel filter with out removing the tire and he say’s yes.

I tell him since I have new brakes on order “I was still trying to find the front EBC Redstuff” I will go ahead and replace the lug nuts – with solid ones , when I replace my brake pads.

I run my own business and have put the lug nuts on back order. But now the Texas weather is changing . . . . . Beautiful weekends , figured now is a good time to accomplish this task.

So i go on-line today and figured I could just Google "S-Type Lug Nuts" and ordre a new set.

Well I find a few web sitesand are given all these option's in sizes.

Heck I don't know what size I need . . . . . . which is why I posted this question.

Does any of that make sense [sm=smiley21.gif]?

The lug nuts are 12x1.5mm. I have looked high and low and cant find any soild nuts for my car. The 2005 toyota avalon lug nuts are soild but they are about 1/2 inches longer than the Jaguar/lincoln nuts.

Just out of curiosity, has the Restricted performance light come back on yet? Just wondering if the fuel filter actually cured the problem.

I'm a recent, (2 mos.) owner of an '04 S.
Just picked-up new tires from Tire Rack and plan to have them installed by the local tire shop tomorrow and I'm reading this thread about stripping lugnuts!
Do I need to be concerned that the tire shop may strip my lugs when removing old tires?
Would it help to squirt a little "Liquid Wrench" on them tonight??

FactoryJaguarTech

Yes the Fuel Filter did solve my"Restricted Performance Light " Issue. It was the weirdest thing.

I still have Factory Warranty but was dreading taking my Jaguar to the local dealer.

That whole lost of power really had me scratching my head.

Oh and I found a set of “SOLID” lug nuts for my Jaguar 12 x 1.5 $137.00 for 20 Ebay Item # 290209802923.
Kind of pricy but I have been procrastinating long enough, think I will bite the bullet.

Thanks

Most of the time lug nuts are stripped when people use there factory spare tire wrench to fix a flat
I"d chuck this wrench and but a 1/2 breaker bar with a 19 mm socket
Make sure the tire tech is using a 19 mm socket and if possible ask him to use a little antisieze on the wheel studs before reinstalling them
AndCajun Mojo
PM me if your interested in a set of NEW Jag lug nuts for a better price then that

Yes, I was putting my spare tire on due to a flat. the factory wrench sucks, but that was all I had. I went to americas tire company to get it checked out and they said that I have a stripped lug nut. how much am I looking on average to fix the single stripped nut?

if you get a set of lug locks...then you have the other lugs that you remove from each tire as spare lugs plus you protect your rims from being stolen....they sell a set of 4 here http://stores.ebay.com/Your-Pit-Stop for $10 for the s type
