Nice cleaning job and replacing gaskets/seals and struts, but hardly a 'restoration'.

Yes, but for me at any rate, getting to see it all getting "broken down" was enlightening.

Yes the real key is they dropped the entire drive train along with the front sub-frame. We have a number of mechanics and they all do that because the access is just so much better and you can repair things in minutes that would take hours with the engine in the car.

They sure had a nice clean shop to work in too! Loved the little table they put the engine/transmission on.

Yeah, personally I was just fascinated watching it all go back together again.

Everything clean and shiny, but what new components were used other than some suspension parts? Didn't seem to tear down engine or transmission, I would think that would be part of a restoration. Nice shop though as well as what seemed to be efficient staff. Interesting...

Very interesting with impressive result.

Still, though, I found myself shaking my head a bit. Mostly this seems to be an awful lot of labor ($$$) for a very intense .....and invasive....deep cleaning.

Cheers
DD

It looks like a later model. Not 2001. The bonnet (hood) and grill are different. So are the inlet manifold and gaskets.

Yes, it's maybe a 2005?

Yes, this is most definitely a 2005 or later model. This one has really beautiful walnut. An amazing amount of labour going into this car.

Can't quite call it a classic car yet, and certainly not an antique, but in that realm of the hobby, there's an awful big range in what people call "restoration". I find that most commonly people refer to a car as having been restored when its simply been repainted. I see an awful lot tho where people make major repairs without cleaning anything at all and that just kills me. I could never put anything back together again dirty. When I do what I call a restoration (which is still short of what some people would insist upon), it takes me three to five years of evenings and weekends, even with my brother helping. There appear to be four or five guys working in this video. I wish I had their help. If I could just get them to clean all the parts for me, probably shave two and half years off.
