Default MOT failure

Hello members
I am looking for some advice please, my S Type failed MOT yesterday on ( and this is straight off report) Macpherson strut pin or bush excessively worn nearside and offside.
After the test I was talking to the chap and he said you can't just get bushings you have to buy the complete thing.
When I arrived home I remembered he also said it's because they're aluminium.
I looked on line and every time I put strut etc I kept getting shock absorbers. Before I ring the garage back I was hoping someone might tell me if my personal take on this is possibly correct. Could he mean the control arm bushings and am I right in thinking the bushes are replaceable. It was the aluminium comment that made me think he was not on about struts or shock absorbers.
Thank you for your time
Andy

i think he means lower shock bushings / pin=bolt or maybe the alloy bush sleeve . the strange thing here is the s type sure it has struts, but not McPherson struts . McPerson struts turn with the steering .

here are some front ones

and here is a rear one for sale so yes you can get them .

Thank you very much I really appreciate your help. It's so frustrating that I now have to rely on mechanics to do even the smallest of jobs. Muscular dystrophy has made a big difference to what I can do now. It took me three hours to change a vanity mirror light bulb but I felt good having managed without help. That may sound silly but I have to enjoy these small battles with diy while I can lol
Thank you once again for your help
Andy

If it's one of the bushes that needs pressing in, some places won't do it in case they have grief. (Or don't have a suitable press.)

Hello jagv8
I have spoken to the garage after the advice and item number was given to me on here. They are very happy to do it and for me to supply the bushes. I can't tell you how grateful I am for all your help.
