Default My insurance company totalled my 01V6

they said it will cost more than the car to fix it, b***rds. So, I have to rough it out with this until I find one to replace it.

A Mercedes? Blasphemy! Shh, don’t tell anybody else or you might be kicked off the forum. You’d best get a Jaguar quickly, before anyone notices.

No wonder the bas**ds totaled it. The bloody steering wheel is on wrong side.

Hi Roberto,
please remind me: What was the issue with your S-Type?

Yep,

Both ours the same fate.

The 2000 in Sept 2018, and the 2001 in Fed 2024.

Parts availability, their stupid guaranteed for life repair rubbish, thus eliminating s/h panels etc. Electrical concerns with both eventually killed them.

Hot bad for both events in a shopping car park, and us inside the shops, nice surprise when returning to the car park, bugga.

Hence the Poor Mans Benttey we now call the chariot of choice. The X will ride again, when I find and kill the gremlin haunting the fans,

Hi Eric
I would have loved to help you with parts, and we have the same Seafrost. But the company kept the car when they paid me out. Sorry, buddy.

Not much damage in the photo? I guess just too expensive to fix for that old of a car.
Don't feel bad I REALLY tore my fender up!

2005 STR

Took out the passenger side head light as well as the fender and on the STR those lights have the black surround and are HARD to find!
Freak accident and I caught the lower edge of a pickups rear bumper and peeled that fender open like a banana! Barely bent the end of his bumper.

Glad I fixed it all myself. Replaced the fender.
Here it's in base coat.

Redid the bumper cover. Car had about 130K miles on it so plenty of chips and wear on the front bumper cover. I spent hours fixing all those little things.

The real problem is that metallic Silver is hard to match anyway and with about 7 years of fading from sitting in the sun I just could not match it 100%.

I painted the front bumper cover and replaced the passenger side fender. Fender was easy and cheap to find. The head light took a while and found one from a guy who did not know about the differences between the standard and STR head light.

The pictures don't show the paint miss match but in person it was obvious. Car looked good and was repaired properly but cosmetics matter!

Thanks much and it is satisfying work. Unlike a good mechanical repair where if done properly there is no trace that you even touched the car!
Those dang S-Types and that curvy front of the hood! So hard to get the gaps consistent.

Oh I forgot that I added the mesh inserts in the lower grill and small side grills. Thought that finished the front end off a bit better.
While do love my 2014 XJR that old 2005 STR was a very good car for me. I only replaced it because I had had it so long. If it had been a nightmare I am sure I would NOT have purchased my second Jaguar!

Sad thing was I only got $3500 for it when I sold it. That was after a dealer offered me $3000!

The wheels were worth 3 thousand. Funny you mention the curves. I have had the front bumper cover off about a dozen times for different reasons. It sure pops right back on like i never took it off. Great design and fitment
