Is the noise coming from under the hood, near the windshield washer reservoir? If so, it's your passive alarm system:

I'm not sure if this system was fitted to US spec cars, though, so it may be something else.

Reset your parking brake by holding the switch up with your foot on the brake pedal. Its beeps and should say reset parking brake on the dash as well

Uff da! I was thinking he meant the battery was still disconnected. Your explanation makes a lot more sense, if he means the beeping started after reconnecting the battery.
