I'm using a flat head to get the car out of gear for the moment. I'm wondering if I can get the solenoid out of the assembly and replace it without replacing the entire assembly.
I believe the check engine lite is on as a result of the solenoid failure. Can I remove it all together and replace it with a resistor or maybe even just secure the piston in the unlocked position?
I have a 2003 S-type

I've heard of hot wiring this solenoid - but I would look into getting a replacement assembly from a boneyard.

Hey there!
Check your previous post (the one with all the pictures) I posted a couple of options for you that are both less than $100 with shipping!
Cheers!
