My STR is a mouse house!!
So I am at work today and a new guy and I are talking about cars. He asks about the Jag so we go outside to take a look. He pops the hood and I notice some white thread/fabric stuff hanging down near the where the windshield slopes down and meets the black plastic housing where the wipers are. I don't have a flashlight right now but I can see mouse droppings down in there.
I guess I will remove all of the black plastic and see if I can flush him out with water or something? Is there anything sensitive to water that I should avoid? Any other ideas or suggestions?

Glad to see you moved your post. I would not spray water in that area for fear it would cause other problems. As for the mouse a little peanut butter and a good trap for a day might do the trick, then rinse it out.
Without the mouse droppings, it is a fiber insulation that deteriorates, mine was in poor condition. I used a shop vac with the 3" hose and cleaned it all up. I haven't noticed a difference with it there or not.
If you indeed have a mouse, the best way to get him is with one of those sticky traps baited with food. The mouse has to climb onto the sticky surface to get the food. He gets stuck on the sticky surface and the more he tries to pull away, the more stuck he gets....
What you DON'T want to use is any type of poisoned bait. The mouse eats the poison then runs off into a vent or some other inaccessible area to die. Then his carcass stinks up your vehicle (or your house, depending upon where he runs off to) for a couple of weeks or more. We learned this years ago the hard way. Trust me, don't do it. Use the sticky trap method instead....

Yeah peanut butter and a glue board is best. Poison makes them very thirsty and ive seen them chew through hoses trying to get water. And for all of you following this, take care of mice/rat issues cause we have customers/insurance co's that spends $1000 to fix a car after a mouse or rat has chewed up a harness. I understand they really like the taste of british wire insulation
It's comments like this that make my day! lol way too funny.
To the OP, +1 on the trap idea.

They have a trap that is like a tunnel with the opening on one end and on that end it has a trap door. You put peanut butter at the far end and you set the door and put it in place. He goes in to eat and the door slams closed behind him. A great device!
WTF!!! Are you serious? A mouse living inside your CAT
Pray to god it didn't leave behind mini mice. The last thing you want is a breeding ground up in there then you will have to call the Pied Piper

Thanks for the feedback. There's really not a good place to put the trap. I plan to remove the black plastic housing pieces and then put the trap in. I want him dead ASAP as I don't want it to die in the car, or chew through the wiring. I'll report back!!
Wow. In rural Oregon you get little mice in your car. Not bad. Here in NYC we got big rats all over our faces!

I called the Jag dealer and they want $89.99 plus shipping for 4 Jaguar approved traps. The Lincoln ones are only $4.99.
Okay update! I got home and took all of the plastic and wiper arms off. Once I got in there with some light it appears that it's not a mouse house after all. The foam is just coming apart by itself and what I thought were mouse turds looks to be just seeds and other plant junk that has accumluated over the years. Here are some pics. Question though, in the first pic is that tube made so water can drain down into it? Mine was completely full of leaves and debris!

Chuck a Corn snake in the cat and that will be that for that f*&in mouse. Then ya chuck in a Mongoose to chow down on that heethen serpent. I haven't heard of anyone who'd mess with the Mongoose, so ya may be up S*&t Creek at that juncture.... Maybe ya better stick with the Skippy Peanut Butter trick?
