Default Need info on replacing side mirror

While driving to work this morning I had to decide whether to be side swiped by a cement truck or get closer to the caution barrels in a construction zone on the highway. One of the barrels were out just a little more than the others. I called Jag and the want $800 for a replacement and that doesn't include the glass. I found one used online for around $300.

Anyone have easy to follow directions on how to replace a side mirror?

I tried a search of the forums and found nothing specific on the subject. I tried to download the JTIS but it gave a "file can not be found" error while running the setup.exe.

I looks like I am going to have to take off the entire door panel to get to the bolts holding the mirror on. Anyone done this before? Any suggestions on easy removal?

That sounds right for a fix. No idea why you got that error - plenty run it OK. There are detailed instructions which generally seem to work....

Take a look here for door panel removal.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ide-faq-31104/

Here's the instructions from JTIS.

Exterior Mirror
Remove the front door trim panel.
Disconnect the exterior mirror electrical connector.
Detach the front door window glass interior trim panel.
Remove the exterior mirror retaining nut covers.
Detach the wiring harness grommet.
Hold the exterior mirror while removing the retaining nuts.
Remove the exterior mirror.

Thanks to the post above and the linked thread I was able to remove the door panel and destroyed mirror without much hassle. I did break a couple of the panel trim posts as the other thread mentioned but I was able to order them from the local Ford dealership. The part number listed in the other thread is one number off. The correction is Ford # 2W4Z-54238A70-AA.
