Hi folks,
I was replacing the aftermarket doubledin satnav stereo unit in my MY2006 V6 and discovered what appears to be the end of a cat5 network cable behind the stereo.
Just wondered if anyone knows what it is/does as it looks like it might be the source of some future excitement (I should get out more)

There are lots of unused things but no Cat5 cable (well, not from the factory).

 

OK, thanks for responding, it is buried in a large loom so I guess must have been wrapped in by someone else - I will curb my enthusiasm! I have been getting rid of lots of obvious aftermarket bodgery this looked like it was supposed to be there

Usually I'd say refer to the circuit diagrams but straight away I can say no OE cable has a Cat5 connector.

 

phone handset plug looks like a cat 5 to the untrained eye.

 

It's not in that position is it? And probably not present at all by his MY?

Also... anyone who knows what a Cat5 connector is probably can tell it's not a phone one, whereas those who know only the phone one would probably wonder what Cat5 even is...
