New Owner, New Issues
Greetings from Michigan!
This is my official first post, although I have been lurking for about a month. I have already found a wealth of information using the search tool.
I now own a 2000 4.0 S Type with 100k on it. Cosmetically near flawless. Mechanically, well...
This site is wonderful; thanks to all the contributors! I hope to eventually add to the worth.
That being said, I've got issues. The ones I couldn't find using the search are the following:
1) Wood dash trim removal procedure (searcing for rattles and securing the flimsy vents)
2) Low frequency vibration starting at 40-ish and ending at 60-ish. I know there's a common torque converter issue, but it really doesn't feel like it. When the very steady low frequency vibration starts around 40, it doesn't matter if I'm in 4 or Drive. Same thing. Vibration disappears when I let off the gas. It also quiets up quite a bit once the car is well warmed up (getting off the freeway).
Other than that, I'm a very happy camper.
Thanks in advance for any replies!
Marvin

Er, not to offend but DO NOT contact them. They'll post if they wish to. They have jobs and lives to lead same as everyone else
However, get hold of jtis about the removal - it's probably in there. The vibration is probably somewhere here or try the UK forum.

...thanks for the advice about people. I wouldn't go out of my way to single out anyone for help; isn't that the purpose of a forum?
I do appreciate any replies; rattles p!$$ me off!
Merry post-Christmas!

I would not remove the wood. It's most likely not the problem. I would check first the defroster panel between the windshield and the dash. It is well known for rattles. It's a pretty easy fix and yours might have been removed before which can break mounting clips. To repair I use thin pieces of foam glued where needed. I like the 1/8" thick foam sheets at Hobby Lobby and just cut them to size. Use spray glue you can get at the auto parts store. Or you can use window weather stripping from Lowe's that has a peel off backing and is ready to use.

Thanks for the tip! I already chased that one down, however. The dash vents are loose and seemingly in need of either tightening or rebuild. I'm unsure of how to get them out and don't want to snap anything in half.

Get JTIS man! If you search around you will find a thread about installing Sirius Sat radio....... There is a Jag web site that I put on there as well as the PDF. That can get you the install sheets for any accessory.... Find one that needs the dash panels pulled and you will have what you need in a pinch.... I'm at work and don't have the site here or else I would post it here as well. Then when your done.... Go to e-bay and buy JTIS.. The best 10 bucks I've spent on my car....

Here are the search results off of E-Bay: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories
Just look for the CD manual that goes up to 2004 and it should cover your needs. They call JTIS a service manual on e-bay but that is what I got. Be sure to pick a good seller with a solid 100% feedback rating. But you already knew that......
