New Record Price for S-Type R?
The moment I saw this car I had taken mental ownership of it. Check it out on Bringatrailer.com...
28k-Mile 2003 Jaguar S-Type R for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $19,750 on January 25, 2021 (Lot #42,225) | Bring a Trailer
I fell in love with its lines, low miles and service history. I just KNEW it would be mine. A bidding war erupted yesterday between me and another bidder... He won! I just couldn't press the button for $20k (and then pay a $1k buyer's premium!)
No kidding... I had researched this car and had a new exhaust, underdrive pulley and intake all picked out. I already had the tag I wanted reserved at the DMV... Then the price got way too high.
So... If anyone is up for selling their S-Type R... Please let me know. Below 100k miles (preferably way below) and in good condition. I'd really like to find a nice one. Just about any color except black.

That is a really nice very desirable looking car, very clean underneath as well.
Looked like it may have missed out on the rear factory sunblind but has the factory premium audio, rear cup holders, sunroof, touchscreen (even though running old tech now still looks miles better than the standard for the year, 2 small screen version) options. Looks like it may have had the timber inlays around the door window switches fitted from new as well. Overall largely unadulterated appearance.
Worth every cent of $20k for the mileage. What other prestige European are you going to get for that price that looks so beautiful and is this exclusive as well?
The x200 is beginning to have classic car appeal all of its own; ironic somewhat that it was fashioned after the 60's Jaguar classics the S Type and Mark II. At the time it's head designer Geoff Lawson had both classics shipped in to Gaydon for inspiration when he came up with this very pleasing timeless design.
I know there's many 'retro' critics out there but hard to love its replacement the XF as much..
Not sure if the new XF with it's sewing machine engine, large pimple in the centre console and a six year old's iPad in the middle is ever going to cut it as a classic?
Sorry that you missed out. Take consolation that you live in the USA and fortunate in that of the c8,000 S Type R's made around half went to the US.
Good luck.

Don't be discouraged. There are good ones out there. It may be an R or just a V8 or even a V6. It took me a while to convince myself to take on a Jag. I ended up with a 2000 S-Type with 43,000 miles in 2015. The price I paid for it was $4100. Today, it has 128,000 miles on it and I'm still driving it. I've done some work on it but that is the part I like. I've changed things that are common problems, had the interior redone where needed, installed new suspension (that's a real easy job), and my hwy mileage is 23.2-24 mpg at 70 mph. That is the factory number. I'll keep it until....My first like was the body style. No other Jag has the S-Type look. Don't give up....search. It's out there

I am hoping to find one with lower miles in blue, silver or BRG... Not a fan of the black rims. Thanks though! I appreciate the offer.
