No radio sound (audio)
So yesterday afternoon I drove for a while where the sound on the radio was faint (low) even at max volume. It did return to normal and worked fine. Worked fine this morning too... This afternoon turned on the car and radio, but no sound. Radio and cd player functions and buttons are working, just no sound from the speakers...
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi Fellas;
Oddly enough, mine has done kinda the same thing today. We were shopping in Portland... I started the car and we left. The radio volume went off...came back on and went off agin. All other functions seemed OK...just no volume. I did notice that when I pressed the "mode" button... I had 'Bass, Treble, Fade L and R and Fade F and R... but no Sub. When we got to our next stop. When leaving I started her up, turned the radio "on" and it worked perfectly. "Sub" was back when I rechecked "Mode". What in th' Wide World o' Sports is goin' on??... Guess I'll just keep on eye on it (I'll watch it with my Good eye...) and see what transpires...
Drive On!!...

well first thing is tell me which unit you have in the vehicle. Do you have the standard system or the Alpine one?
If you have a standard system you should be able to grab the speaker wires behind the radio, or at the speakers themselves.
You could measure the impedance using a multi-meter set to OHMS. While it may sound like a strenuous thing, try this, turn the radio on and to a set volume, and if you have no tunes, walk around the vehicle and start opening and closing the doors. Hopefully you will get to one door and when you close it the stereo will turn back on. This is probably the issue speaker, and then go from there.
Or just get yourself some new speakers for the whole car, replace them, and make sure no wire harnesses are pinched or rubbing on any metal.

Crapshoot here, but I'm wondering if the volume control on the steering wheel is involved? I was getting a b2404 code which pointed to an audio control, but worse was a 1932 code for open airbag circuit. What tipped me off that it was the clockspring was that using the steering wheel audio control for increasing volume actually lowered it. Trying the lowering function didn't work at all.
If you have any other symptoms, like cruise control not working, it may be the clockspring!
