Default noisy manual transmission when shifting

hello

my car sometimes makes a noise "clac" when i shift a gear, always from short to long gear (1 to 2, etc), never in the other direction.
i have the impression the sound is less present when the car is hot, and it vanishes if i drive "like an elderly man", spending time while i shift gear (for ex using the clutch smoothly)

while driving the noise always occurs when i engage the clutch, never when i disengage. I also found out the noise occurs sometimes when the car is stopped, neutral gear engaged, i disengage the clutch, shift to gear one and at that moment i can hear that sound though the clutch is fully disengaged...

i think there is an issue because im used to driving manual trans on many different cars, so i'm not "brutal" with my car !

do you have any ideas about how to solve this problem ?

thank you very much

Very ,very few manual transmissions made it across the pond to the colonies.

Best to join the UK forum, sorry to say.

Perhaps someone will retrofit a 4-speed from a 75 Chevrolet Camaro into an S Type?

I had a Muncie 5 speed in my 1984 Trans Am 5.0, H.0., biggest piece of junk! Every Saturday morning I was replacing the darn shift forks.....My father just laughed.

How true. There's maybe 2-3 members here with manual trans?

There are probably not many more on the UK forum. Almost no-one wants a manual Jaguar, with notable exceptions however.

The manual S-Type has been kindly described as a heavy, awkward clutch.
