Oil Change leads to...cascade of problems
Hi all, so a simple oil change by local and honest one man tech today lead to a downhill slide. 2 quarts low after ~ 1 year and 8k miles on the oil (he said it burning as there were n0 leaks), he saw a code on the dash (I have the parking brake disconnected so that one's there constantly), he saw a couple limp home codes which suggested throttle body (4.2).
Now, I have an infernal and incessant fast beeping from the left dash after he reset the codes. It occurs when underway. The car IS almost 14 but had 38k miles now. And a a topper, my 1 yaer old Yokos have worn out in front on the outside AFTER an alignment when installed...as least it's not a Honda. Any thoughts? And the battery was fresh this year also-it's almost a daily driver, never sits more than a few days.

Deal with one problem at a time. 2 quarts low after 8K miles isn't great but isn't horrible. I find some engines burn some brands of oil more. For example, my winter beater Subaru burns Mobil1 synthetic but not Penzoil Synthetic. So try a different brand and monitor consumption.
Premature tire wear is almost always alignment (or hooning, but you wouldn't be asking why then). Have mechanic check all suspension components for old bushings/play. Then do alignment. Bad alignment happens. Worn suspension happens.
Electrical and codes - good luck. Can't help you.

Some 4.2's burn a little oil, some don't seem to. Keep an eye on your exhausts & if you notice one getting sootier than the other, get a compression test done as it could be an oil control ring on the way out.

I wouldn't say they're badly built but there are certainly differences in oil consumption. I've seen a shot ring in an 80k mile car, so mentioned it as something to keep an eye on since you queried oil use in a 14 yr old car you've had for a year.
