I have the upper and lower intake off, attempting to reseal everything to solve a code.

I was surprised to find a lot of oil behind the lower IMT valves.

Then I was researching here, and read Joyce'sJags post

and they found oil there too. Do we both have a PVC issue, or is this normal? My 2006 does not have the black box catch can under the lower intake, only has 2 hoses and 1 valve.

The IMT's have the new green seals, and I'll do the plugs.

Is the oil normal?

My '02 V6 had oil collected by the IMT valves, too. The plenum is a different design, but still the same end result. Doesn't seem to be causing any trouble.

 

Think it is pretty common........happens on the X-Type 2.1, 2.5 and 3.0 engines too.
Even my 4.2 XJ V8 gives the occasional blue puff at start up (once every 6-8 weeks) which I think is just some condensate build up getting occasionally pulled through.

A catch can generally solves the build up if you are concerned.
