Default Old man hit my baby!!!!!

Yesterday a very old (and apparently senile) man backed his 94 Cadillac Deville into my S-type....he was across the parking lot and backed up about 200 feet to hit my Jag....

I saw it happen and immediately stopped him as he started pulling away. He, of course, denied hitting my car and refused to get out and look. As I reached for my phone he took off....I called the cops but they would not come to a parking lot accident and did not care that he took off...tax $$$ well spent.

Fortuantely, the only damage is to the chrome trim strip on the front bumper on the drivers side...he broke it and scuffed it, but no other body damage...whew!!!

So, I went to the Jaguar dealer and they want over $250 for this 28" long plastic strip!!!! Then I get to install it.

Anyone know where to find Jaguar parts OTHER than at the dealer??? Anyone have a pristine used trim piece?

I have seen aftermarket pieces available but only going up to 2002...mine is a 2006...might they all be the same????

Thanks

Sorry to hear an ol'e buzzard smacked yer girl and ran. Riski makes a good point regarding his plate # as a means of the police to track down his address then insurance co. I have a feeling the trim piece will have to be procured as new unless a salvage yard can remove it from a donor without marring it. You can call Jaguar salvage yards: Coventry West, Jaguar Heaven, and Jag Graveyard (to name a few). Good Luck.

Parts prices vary greatly among dealers. I found everything from below Jaguar list price to double Jaguar list for the same part. So shop around. And do check the forum sponsor dealers who generally offer nice discounts to members.

You can also contact SPP-British , they're vendor and have a huge inventory

You're right, they only go up to 2003 on e-bay.

That old man got you good, Chicago-Style - at least no body damage / no harm to yourself.

Besides old people and taxi drivers, I've noticed an increase in limo/private car drivers acting crazy here in the Chi.
