Overheating or not?
I have just bought a Jaguar S-Type Diesel 2004 2.7. Most of the time the temperature gauge is over to the LOW side but occasionally it goes up to half-way, especially when the weather is warm or I have been running round in traffic. Is this running hot or is it normal for this vehicle? Also, does anyone know a good mechanic, West Midlands, UK, for cheap servicing, etc., in the future? Regards, Philip

I'd say dead centre is actually the norm. It certainly is on every S-type I've been in. I reckon your thermostat might be stuck open so you're only getting to normal in hot conditions and the rest of the time you're running cool.

Many thanks for all your help and advice, this is much appreciated. Can I ask another question? Occasionally, I am getting a warning light come on saying "cannot apply parking brake". When I click it a couple of times it seems to work, what would you say that suggests? New discs maybe or perhaps self-adjusters just kicking in? Kindest regards to all of you, Philip
