P0333 Code - Which knock sensor?
Hey folks, I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out which part I need for my 2003 S-Type 3.0 Sport. I'm getting MIL code P0333 and P1111. I'm pretty sure that's telling me to replace the knock sensor. I'm just having a hard time finding the correct part. Is it the top knock sensor, or the one on the side? Should I replace both while I'm at it? I've narrowed it down to part #'s XR835380 (side) and AJ85676 (top). Please advise, thanks.
Also, what is a reasonable number of labor hours required to replace this? Trying to avoid an outrageous bill from my mechanic. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Replace them both IMHO. If one has failed, it's probably only a matter of time before the other one goes. One of mine failed at around 85K miles, so I opted to replaced both of them, and then also replace plugs, coils, gaskets, filters, and do some other engine work that needed to be done around same time.
The knock sensors are not expensive - I paid about $45 total for both at RockAuto.com last year.

I'm getting P0333 codes.
Thanks,
I didn't do the work myself so I can't answer your question firsthand. But I understand that one of them is fairly easy to access but the other one requires removal of some parts to get to it. This is why I opted to have other engine work done at the same time. My approach is - If you're paying a mechanic to remove and replace parts to repair something, then you might as well have him do other maintenance tasks while he's got things apart anyway, killing 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer.
