p0781 after tcm reflash

Yes, get the screws, and also the sealing sleeve, as it's not expensive but is sometimes a problem. Look forward to your documentation.

Thanks Robinb. I'm taking the car to the dealer on Tuesday to reflash it and I'll take it from there.

Also bought the trans oil kit from the ctsc website along with the screws and the sealing sleeve at 333$.

So I went to the Jag dealer for the re-flashing of the tcm to no avail. When I picked up the car the only code stored was p1000. The code p0781 came on once as a pending code and it went away. Strange thing happended while I was driving it today and monitoring it with torque the scanner stoped talking to the ecm so I could get no more data. Thats when i started to have problems with going to the second gear. Later on the day the car went to limp mode with code p1796 as a pending code. Also I was told by the dealer that the imt o-rings needs changing asap. P1796 CAN Controller Circuit (Bus Off). Anythoughts about this code?

If it keeps happening go looking for a wiring fault.

Finally I found a shop that knowledgeable about the zf transmission and took the car there on Tuesday. They told me that among other things the valve body and torque converter. They were able to find a re manufactured tc for 350$ but valve body they said is dealer only at a cost of 2200$. I looked online for one but all I could save from getting a Re manufactured one was about 450$ which for me is not worth it. Total cost quoted 4200$. 1 year warranty unlimited miles for that year. I guess it is what it is.

Would a second hand complete transmission not be a cheaper option?

the issue you need to focus on is the can network fault. Imts? That like giving a aspirin to someone with a headach and huge bleeding gash. Take care of the bigger issues fist.
On the stype v6's the short wiring harness that runs down the side of the trans to the plug has a connection at the top right bellhousing right by the cat convertor. I have run into intermittent can network drops from the tcm because of this. And theyre intermittent, the worse to find. It should still be avail from jaguar and fairly cheap compared to your other prices
