Where is it located? I would like to know if it's in my capability to get to the place where it is. I'd like to try and replace the unit if I can't fix it by one of the many options I've seen in jag forums.

For a LHD 05MY s-type the park brake module is in the trunk on the right hand side.

So you can look this up again yourself here is a link to the 05MY electrical guide, the location of the modules is on page 22 in this PDF. (Page no18)

Please note that you will need to check your vin number to make sure it is an 05 model year (made in 2004) car.
This is the 10th prefix in the VIN number.
For a 05 model year 3.0 v6 the 10th and 11th prefix should be '5 F' (My one that is in my signature below is '5 1'.)

And now that you know the location, the control module is probably the most reliable component in the system. What problem are you experiencing? For fault messages, see this thread for a very common problem:

The next most likely culprit is the actuator and/or cables mechanically binding due to corrosion. Way, way down on the list for a likely fix is the control module itself.

 

Jaguar issued the dealers a special tool to release the EPB with a wired switch that plugged into the side of the EPB module.
We could operate the 'winch-motor' with the switch.

You can use a 'jumper-wire' in the connector at the module in place of the special tool.

I now know the location of the parking brake module, I just need a 4 hour window above freezing point to get the battery out and get the cover off the units, location as shown on the 2005 s type electrical manual.
My battery is a 900 amp hour superboost spec which is brand new, well September 2020, and shows 12.7 volts as the standing hold charge.
Today I ventured out and reviewed the location of the pbm, and decided to just try the battery disconnect, hold 30 seconds, reconnect start car after waking neighbours up with the security alarm going off when I opened the door and fumbled for the key in my winter coat ( 😂😂😂&#128514 started the car, firmly pumped the foot brake 5 times and applied a further light foot brake pressure and the parking brake lever, then depress to off again, but no joy. Tried the whole process once again, no joy, took the car out for a spin and got lost on the new calgary ring road. Tried the process once again before I drove back home which was a 35km round trip. So any deficiency in battery charge should have been made up, I guess.
Now I heard a little whirring sound, the pbm motor screwing in the brake originally, so I'm discounting a faulty motor, so I will now look around for a recon module and try that if I can get a friend to loan me their garage for a day.

Are you getting an error that says "park brake fault" with an orange light? Or does the parking brake just not work at all? When you reset the batter did you get the warning messahe to apply foot brake and Park brake?
If you hear the motor run and no park brake then you might have trouble with the cable and it that is the problem, then look for a post by Brutal on here about the issue. Not a fun job.
There is another issue when all of sudden you see the warning or when you turn your car off and it gives you the same error message.
