Exclamation Parking Sensors not working since heavy rain

This happened twice before where after heavy rain, my reversing sensors started to make a small beep as if they were shorting.

Then they stopped working altogether and within two or three days they started working again. Never really thought anymore of it other than its an old car (2003/53 Reg)

Due to some heavy rain in London last week. My reversing sensors started to make the same weird shorting sound again when reversing then eventually failed. They have not made a single noise in over a week now.

What could this be? A fuse? Bad cable connection? Module failed/wet? Best place to start, fuse?

Thanks for your help.

The module is in the spare tyre well in the boot, check for water in the well I'd guess that's the problem.

Thanks very much. I'll take a look Friday and report back.

If the module has a white chalky like coating anywhere on it, it's seen water.

Chances are that's the issue
You may find a puddle in your spare wheel well, if so it's likely from the seal around the lights and or boot seal
Good luck

The Rear Parking Aid module is on the network and will have DTCs IF the module itself is not damaged.

Having checked the module on the spare wheel boot wall from what I can see there are NO white water markings on the module.

Is there a fuse that I should check?

Please could you advise what DTCs are?
Thanks!

DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code(s).

The Parking Aid system has a module that will store codes for faults detected.

Driver's Handbook will show what fuse(s) pertain to operation of the sensors. In my handbook, Section 6 Roadside Emergency covers, among other topics, the fuses. Make sure all fuses are good before troubleshooting.
