Passive Alarm driving me nuts!!!!
Its back again the passive alarm is doing its own thing, sometimes every other minute, can stop for days weeks almost a month, then it comes back again.
Well I had enough of it, could not find a cure or an explanation as to why it keeps beeping when it feels like.
The wiring diagram shows two boxes situated behind the RH headlamp, called active and passive sounders.
I can just about see/touch one box that has 3 wires, that the colours match the diagram going to the Active box (Brown+Red - White+Green - Brown)
I have been unable to find the passive sounder box or the (Yellow+Black - Black wires) that connect to it.
Out of sheer desperation I cut the black wire (earth) to the Active sounder (goes against the grain to do it) any way it did not make the slightest difference. I though it had but about five hours later it started beep beep beeping again.
I am totally fed up with is and its driving me crazy, and my neighbors I am a long way from Florida and my garage and tools, so I cant go stripping the car down to find the sounders.....so
Can any kind member please tell be where the passive sounder is located, and how to get to it in detail.
I was told it might be under the fuse box, when I unclip the fuse box it only moves a inch or so, because the loom is stopping any more movement.
My conclusion is it must be under a panel, but what one and where.
Even the dealer has been vague.
I have go to the stage where I just want to disconnect it, nobody takes any notice of the stupid beeping anyway, in fact if there are two sounders I would like to connect them both, the main alarm that sounds the horns and flashes the lights is good enough!!
The diagram says check that the passive and active were originally fitted, but I bought the car used.
lastly seeing as I cut the black wire, could it be that the unit earths itself? I don't want to cut another wire unless I am certain, going to be hard enough to reconnect the black one if I ever find the passive sounder
