Default Plastic console rebuild?

Hi all, I have a 2001 S Type (4.0), with the SDZ interior. The car is in pretty good shape and covered in the garage awaiting spring. The problem is the plastic base part of the console between the two seats is cracked in several places, and the leather armrest/cover simply can lift off, as the hinge part on the console was broken off before I got the car. The top part of the console's fine, but the lower part where your knees etc hit, and further back where the flip-up armrest hinge attaches to, that's the part I'm concerned about.
I've been scouring Ebay and anywhere else I can find for a while now, but no luck finding a replacement.
So, is it possible to remove the console (which I can probably do as I have the shop manual downloaded for the car), but more importantly, is there any way I can fibreglass/patch/metal brace/???? and then repaint the console to get it back into serviceable condition?
Any advice is appreciated.

DIY is the way to do it, I think. Those plastics are brittle. Having said that, I've seen some utube ways to repair plastics. I have not done it myself but may try them soon. Good luck.

I was thinking that way too. Will have to attack the problem when the car's out from winter storage, just looking to plan ahead for how to do it.
I really don't like plastic (!) especially the Ford era stuff. Like the lower panel over the driver's shins on the S Type, and the thin demister vent panel by the windshield.. other examples of weak cheap Ford beancounter stuff. Brittle, easy to crack off tabs and not repro'd.
Thanks for the feedback it's always appreciated, and have a Merry Christmas

That vent to the back seats are very brittle. Careful when unscrewing them from the bit that opens the console. I broke mine in several pieces and I was careful. Merry Xmas

This is a HUGE challenge. I’ve been through at least 4 different center consoles (all pulled from pick your parts for cheap) and managed to Frankenstein together one that is mostly sorta okay. These plastics are so brittle it’s near impossible to get a perfect replacement without breaking at least a couple clips or the like. Thankfully the console stays in place and cooperates well even if it doesn’t have every clip or screw.

As I do not have that kind of problem, it is hard for me to imagine the issue at hand without at least seeing pictures of the problem.

The only thing that comes to mind - and I do not know, if that helps:
My X308 did have an OE old automobile-telephone in the centre console, which was obviously obsolete and it just took up space in the centre console. Hence, I thru it out and was left with an ugly looking hole in the centre console under the armrest. I then took a piece of a 100 year old wooden board, cut it to small pieces, tinted it red-brown and used it to create a wooden insert in the armrest, which looks better like anything, which would have been original.

Hence, maybe you find somewhere relatively thin, but solid, wooden boards and build your own - better than original - new centre console...
