My friend, The 4.0 had its issues. Let it go to the other guy, who'll end up more frustrated than you are now. You're better off purchasing an affordable 2003 on S-Type. These came with much updated drivelines. The bulletproof 4.2 had 300 hp and 2003-on came with the ZF 6 speed trans. Again, don't buy the wasted 4.0 Invest in a 2003-on S-Type.

I agree, i got my car before reading through the forums, as i only had 1 day from selling my old car and buying something else, and was just lucky not to have any major problems. the 2003+ cars seem a better option.

N&T - To get answers you needed to post sooner and also to say it was the 4.0 as at least one of your posts didn't even say the engine!

I would second walking away and let the other guy have the problems, if you are determined to buy look at another complete engine, I assume it ran out of oil so the crank may not be the only damage.

I am sorry to hear about your problems. I can't add any S type knowledge, but I have a suggestion.
Typing in all CAPS is easier, God knows I'm a terrible typist, but it is seen as the equivalent of yelling in the forums. You'll get more views and better responses by typing conventionally.

Thanks

I've seen flipping house shows but never a 2001 S-Types flipping show...Seriously you'd be lucky to sell that car for $6000...

N&T,

Please take this as friendly advise.

jaguarforums.com is not about the hip hop, typos, short slang, caps, etc....PLEASE procede with caution, you being a newbie here, I cannot PM you yet because you haven't followed "our" protocol.

I (we) understand your urgency for a response, and as suggested in your earlier posts, help us help you. PLEASE take the veterans adise here and walk from this vehicle, it is going to turn out to be a money pit as stated from another well respected forum member.

Just my 2 cents.

You made a wise move. You won't regret it. Now, regroup, and get going looking for another S-Type and join us!
