Are those readings STFT or LTFT? What RPM were the readings taken at?

It is also helpful if you can refer to each cylinder bank as Bank1 or Bank2. By 'right bank' I assume you mean Bank1?

Research this forum for meanings of fuel trim readings as 10% or higher indicates a lean condition from that cylinder bank.

Just curious how the Technician working on your vehicle determined there is no vacuum leak from the inlet manifold or gasket at cylinder 3?

I don't know about stft or ltft. Will have to ask and I have been bugging him a bit(this may be where he is getting his info that it is lean. Yes right bank(bank 1)(passanger side) is 1-4 as I have learned it. I will have to ask him how he leak tested at that area, I used carb cleaner to spray along the intake gasket and hose connections to look for leaks, also I listened with a stethoscope.

just as an aside, when idling you can hear a "puf..puf.......puf on the right side exhaust. That's probably the number 3 hole doing its thing.

Problem solved, bad coil. Long story about how it went and why it got confusing. Total cost of repair 530.00 including removal and cleaning of 4 injectors and one new coil. He gave me a deal cuz he had the car so long. There never was a real lean condition, the miss made appear as though there was. Back to happy kitty. WooHoo

Hi PAB, I do not think my tensioners have ever been replaced. The valve train is currently very tight and sounds like new. I just switched it to synthetic oil. Due to the miss, the engine just got a lot of evaluating. It has good compression of about 155 in all 8. It was owned by an older fellow and i doubt it has ever been redlined, I have not gone over 5000 rpm with it. I am debating doing just the tops, or do I really need to do the bottoms too. I have seen conflicting info on this site. I would be trying the tops myself, if it really needs bottoms, I might have to turf that to my mechanic. I spoke to him about this and he said he was quite familiar with these and other ford cam drives that are basically the same (mustang, lincoln and others) and he said run it further and maybe till I can just hear it getting looser.

I have had it for 1yr 2 mo. it came with 77000 and now has 80000 miles. Very good condition in and out. It has a great service history except for burning out 2 coils over time.
