Is power steering shudder actually fixable?

2005 S-Type 3.0 V6

My car has the oft-mentioned power steering shudder in garage/ parking scenarios. It is very slight...but now that I've become aware of it, it is a bit of an itch. The Jaguar TSB for power steering noise often comes up.

The original intent of the TSB was to fix a noise problem. I've read a LOT of prior postings which mention trying the C2S48887 power steering additive for the shudder complaint as well. Problem is, I've yet to find a case where the shudder has been cured with the additive.

If the success rate has truly be zero then I'm not anxious to go thru the additive ritual just for fun, so to speak.

Thoughts? Has anyone fixed the shudder? If so, how?

Or, realistically, should I just shrug it off?

Many thanks
Doug Dwyer

PS- I should mention that the p/s fluid is fresh.

Don't know but that additive fixed my old 2005 STR 100%?
Many other have been fixed too?

Update

I installed the additive as per TSB.

There is an improvement in the shudder issue. It now occurs only fairly briefly when cold. Before the additive the shudder occurred hot or cold.

I had a bit of difficulty obtaining the additive. It's apparently NLA from Jaguar so existing inventory has pretty well been exhausted

Lubrizol 6178 is a similar product used by Mercedes-Benz and BMW. A quick online search suggests it is still available from various sources.

Also, I have had some success with Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak, which can not only slow or cure leaks, but can help reduce squeals and other noises too.

I had a bit of the shudder and definitely had the dreaded steering column squeak. I first drained and refilled the PS system with fresh fluid and then added the Jaguar additive. Both the noise and shudder were gone within a couple of days normal use.

I read somewhere that the additive is actually intended for positraction/limited slip differentials.

What year make models does the TSB on the shudder or noise cover my 2006 STR doesn’t shutter or make any noise so I’m just curious what I’m missing out on.

Attached is the TSB and the Material Safety Data Sheet for the additive so you can compare its disclosed ingredients with those of other products.
