RE: power windows...
just an update. I spoke with Jag usa and they say there is no TSB out on this. Edmunds lists it on their site. I've got two windows broken and they are looking to charge $800. I asked when does and Itme become so prevelent they would issue a TSB. The rep couln't give me an answer. The did offer to "talk to the dealer" about it. we'll see. I plan on asking for the broken regulators back. I'm not done talking with Jag usa on this.

OK.....tried calling Jag several times and I get the voice mail brush off.[:@] I had the dealer return the old regulators to me. I can't believe they charge money for that crap. Cheap plastic parts, and VERY thin formed metal. I think I might put up a blog and show the world Jaguar "quality". Might see if the local TV station wnats to do a consumer piece.
total charge for 2 windows was $725.

Cheaper lighter materials that don't last as long. Dealer charges 100 per hour, plus 30-35% markup on the parts.....
Good luck with the local news.....i'm sure they have better things to do....

RE: power windows...
Seems I follow the window regulator problems in my pick of cars. I have a 2000 Lincoln LS, which, per the forums I belong to, has window regulator problem very similar to this. So far, I have had one break in my LS - which my after-market extended warranty covered, to the tune of $238.55. Many instances of this were reported in LLSOC - it is a common occurrance.
Now, I also have a 2003 Jag S-Type and it seems to be a regulator problem here too. Thanks, Ford, for making the Mickey-Mouse regulators which break often. I believe there is a new regulator which is now available, though, which is less likely to break. Be sure if you have them replaced, that they put in the NEW style regulator. The new ones have replaced plastic parts with metal ones, I think.

That's the price we pay for quality.. lol....i suppose they (engineers) figured with luxury auto's, you will never roll down your window....that's why you never have a problem with the A/c system..... lol

RE: power windows...
I've got a 2002 S-type. It's extremely cold here in the single digits. I tried to roll down the drive side and it moved really slow. I rolled it up then down. Now it's stuck down. None of my windows will roll down and one is stuck open. Any chance this could be weather related? I've got an appointment to go to the dealer tomorrow morning. I froze all the way from work.
