I am contemplating buying another S-Type - this time a V8, 4.2L, not supercharged (=not an STR).
The sale was planned for Sunday, but the seller brought the Jag to a garage for a check-up first. Turns out, it needs new cam covers.
Do I assume correctly that the V8 S-Type has plastic cam covers like the X308 (XJ8)?
Would it possibly be the exact same cam covers on a 2004 S-Type V8 4.2L as on a 1998 X308 V8 3.2L? P/N?
The seller told me, his mechanic told him that the P/N for one of the cam covers of the 2004 V8 S-Type is AJ812392.
Is there any chance that this is true - the time I just spent on the net lets me doubt that this is the cam cover for THIS model of Jaguar...
So what are the correct P/Ns for the cam covers of the 2004 V8 4.2L S-Type?
Hi bydand, you gave me a link to the part, which I cited above, assuming that it would be the wrong part - My assumption that is might be the wrong part is based upon exactly that link, at which I looked yesterday, where it says that it is a part for "Xk 2006 - 2014 (from B00379), Xf 2009 - 2015" and I see no mention of S-Type.
As I am asking about a problem the seller of the car, which I have never seen, put to me, I obviously cannot be sure that it is not the cam cover gasket (item 2), but if those cam covers are plastic like on my 1998 X308 V8, I expect the plastic do be cracked at various locations near the gasket.
Does anyone know the correct P/Ns for the 2004 V8 4.2L S-Type (not STR) cam covers?
Hi bydand, thanks, that helped indeed. So, the P/N has changed 4 times over the years and is now indeed with AJ812392 for the LHS, right?
And I did further search based upon that and it pretty much looks like the P/N for the RHS is AJ812391...
