Default R Performance Muffler

Hi,

I have a 2007 S-Type 3.0

Does anyone know if the OEM factory R performance muffler will fit or adapt to a 3.0 engine?

I like the slim-line look of the R mufflers and want to see if would fit.

(I realize aftermarket tuner companies like Mina sell muffler kits - am not interested in these - just the Jaguar factory R muffler fit)

Thanks,

Weird. I actually hate the R mufflers and I'd buy the Mina Gallery tips in a heartbeat.

I kind of doubt that they's fit a 3.0L 6 cyl would they?

How many miles on them?

They should fit. The factory exhaust diameter was the same for all s-types.

Appreciate the offer but prefer a brand new R Muffler set.

My car has only 7,150 miles and am passionate about getting it to new mint-like condition.

I'll plan to check with my Jag dealer to see if R muffler would fit.

Mufflers actually break in over time, his is probably worth it (FREE).

Yes, I am expecting the cost to be high (a new standard muffler is over $1,600) but, it does not bother me.

1. I have the means where I afford it, and
2. To each his own (striving for concours showroom-like condition)

This is not my daily driver but my hobby.

I'll keep all informed on what I find out from Jag dealer (whether an R muffler will fit on a 3.0 baseline)

Regards,

Err umm, no offense, but if you could afford it why not buy a 2008 R? I've seen some with low low miles, but high prices.

+1 to MS!

Also keep in mind a muffler has no moving parts, its not like an A/C compressor or an alternator, just a big metallic box with baffles in it. You are probably better off replacing the center resonator if you have one with an after market piece (magnaflow, borla); much more simpler and cost effective.

If he has the money and is willingly spending it...

Was a great offer, though.

Err, I respect the fact that you are trying to keep it in concourse like condition, but honestly, the muffler is the wrong component to be targeting.

A free set of mufflers, given that they are mint, can simply be polished out and made to look like new. The fact is, mufflers even new simply just get dirty as it's an exhaust component. Just like tires, they are going to get used.

Just a quick update for those interested... I checked with my local Jag parts center and they don't think that the OEM factory R Performance Exhaust tubes (out of the box) will fit on a 3.0, without some mod's. Fall back plan is the Mina Exhaust system. I've been browsing some of the S-Type members installations over the past few days and looks good.

(tough crowd by the way)

Regards
