Default Radiator Install DIY?

Doing a radiator on a 02 s-type 3.0, I have been quoted about 4 hours lobor. Some tell me the bumper needs to come off, others say no. JTIS does not mention it. I would like to save the money and do it myself. Would I need any special tools? And is it a big job? Anyone have any step by step on it? thanks all

The only special tool you need is a flexible hose-clamp pliers (Link to an example in post #7 here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...l-valve-86979/ )
You "may" be able to accomplish the R&R without that tool but you'll need a large and colorful vocabulary of four-letter-mono-syllabic words and several extra hours.

I've done it on the 03 - slightly different from your 02, but primarily as to location/type of DCCV, don't think your radiator R&R is significantly different. I can't imagine MY02 requires bumper removal - think that's an X-type thing. We all like different things - but Radiator Renewal on the 03 S-tYpe 3.0L didn't rank anywhere near "bitter-ex-wife" status of the DIY's of various flavors...come to think of it...I don't think it really even attained that status if limited to S-Type repairs I've done. On the other hand, I wouldn't care to do it outside...in the gravel....in winter.

I haven't done one on the S-Type, but usually you do not have to remove it. Just be careful not to bends the a/c lines too much

I have a 2000 with a 4.0 so it's likely quite different, but I had no trouble swapping in a new radiator. On my model you disconnect the trans cooler and ac and it is really fairly easy. R&R took less than 2 hours by myself. I even found that you can take out the cooling fan and shroud to replace the ridiculously placed alternator - easier for me to do that than remove an engine mount. If you think you need to change the heater valve this would be a good time too as you have much better access. I wish I had known that before taking on that task.

Again my 4.0 may be way off from yours, but I also bought the rad off ebay where it was advertised as for manual trans only. The trans cooler is not integrated into the radiator on mine.

Not required on the 03. I didn't do a how-to, but I took some pictures during the process. Don't know how useful they are, but can be found on pages 7-12 here:

2nd Edit: Oopsies! Looks like I DID call it a "bitter ex-wife!" Had forgotten about starting this post: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...nt-leak-81519/
Reasonably certain I never got 'round to formulating the how-to I half-promised therein....and if I did, according to the dates on that post.....it would've been pre-computer crash so it would be gone along with my 2012 tax records. Sorry.
