radio stack

radio stack
I am replacing the radio stack as the screen is blank but radio works well just have no screen info as to what the radio frequency is. If I could find someone that can fix this, otherwise I will replace with a used unit. I know I must have an identical part number match, but I keep hearing I need to get a code to make this work. How do I obtain this code number and how do I introduce this number, with the keypad on the radio? Is there a workaround for all this nonsense
What if I was to go with a non-Jag radio?

If it's a 1999-2002 Premium Sound head unit, aftermarket does not exist. Try to get donor from like generation and feature type. These have external amplifiers, and no aftermarket adapter wIring harness has ever been created.
i did see one thread where someone detailed an installation of a Pioneer touchscreen unit in a non-premium model, and I'm certain that new wiring was required to the speakers, battery and ground.
2003 and up units use a fiber optic wiring bus, which also would negate any quick upgrades.
You'd then need to visIt a Jag dealer to retrieve the code from the donor.
Good luck in whichever route you take.
