Rattle in steering column is driving me crazy.
Hey guys
I know this is a long shot but I have a rattle/skweek in my steering column that I need to fix in my 2006 str. I know it is in the steering column because if I put a little up or down pressure on the steering wheel it goes away. This rattle happens generally at freeway speeds. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I have to fix this or sell the car. Please help.

After much more poking around and more research I have determined it is the clock spring. It looks like there is a fix out there (eds123), but I don't know if I really want to tackle this. Has anyone had the problem or fixed the problem?
I recall someone DIY fixing it and wasn't too bad. Search will find it if on here or check Jaguar Forum.co.uk • Index page as it's on one of the 2 sites.
Any competent mechanic should be able to do it I reckon. Looks easier than many of the things they routinely do!

The clockspring is very simple. You need a steering wheel puller. You must remove the airbag too and some people freak out about that.
I can't really see how that could rattle? Please post back when you find what's making the noise.
