So THAT'S why mine's got a rear shade. Lemme write that down before I forget.

I'd take a picture for you underprivileged deprived (depraved?) types in the US but there's 10CM of snow covering the car right now. That's about 4" in Luddite measure.

The Last of the Mohican 2007-08 V8 S-Types came with the rear window shades standard (together with all the other previously-optional items as standard). Jaguar must have been trying to empty the bins along the production lines prior to closing the lines. Previously the rear window shades only came with the VDP Edition Package.

Ckzzzz - thanks for the upload of the shade pics. Looks great - and I'm glad you got yours working.

Dude. I wanna rear shade.

"Hmm..Winston I was thinking this through and those idiots who spend an arm and a leg on an STR shouldnt get our special window shade, besides I hate those American yankees anyways." "Great idea Charles, I agree, that'll show em, I'll let marketing and manufacturing know right away."

One of them must have had an ancestor or two that died in the Revolutionary War!

Default Rear window shade

I have attached 2 photos. The first is of the blind in the down position from outside the car. The second in the up position from inside. I tugged on it a few times, tried it and failed. Tugged on it again and it worked fine.

Thanks guys. Drove me crazy having something on the car that did not work.

Be sure and lube the tracks!
We have this same problem with the current XJ's. Mainly because the rear shades are not normally operated very much and they get sticky.

But learned something new today! I thought the STR's came fully loaded and had never seen a picture of the rear sun shade in an S-Type before.
My 2005 STR did not have the shade.

Nor have I run into a VDP optioned ST, even though STs are pretty popular in the Atlanta area (although used XFs are becoming moe numerous as well). This ancient thread is the first time I've even heard of the shade option on our cars.

Some of these early posts indicate that we across the pond didn't rate the options like rear and side shades, and even VDP seat trays....hence no donors either.

Bummer!

Oh, the plastic ones that over time will not latch closed (like mine, right?). Merely a rectangular cutout in the middle of the back seat lower. Found a couple on EBay, but were the wrong color. Might be easy to retrofit....easier than some of your options you already have.

Is/was there such a thing as a "fully loaded" S-Type, with every available option, either packaged or "a-la-carte?"
