Found it!
So... search tool doesn't find any DIY for what must surely be a common problem (motor mounts).
Does anyone have any experience they'd share?

Motor mounts? Very very rare. Search will find any that have been posted...

I just tried and got a few hits. Didn't you?

There's a few hits, but no DIY procedure on it, that I found.
Really? Motor mount failures are rare?

What motor mount breakage rare?
guess it depends on the driver and how many potholes are on the roads where you live
drivers side is hard as the steering rack has to come away from the frame, pass side easy. but either way both require the engine bing fully jacked up off the frame till it wont go no mo
Ide never try on my back in the driveway, but some of ya'll love it

It's rare to be reported on here (Search really doesn't return many). Not a job I'd fancy on my drive, mind it's only slightly longer n slightly wider (with stone walls yet) than the car LOL

well I'll let y'all know :-)

My dealer doesn't stock it. And they want $160 for it. RockAuto doesn't list it. AutoHausAZ lists it for $60-ish. (they're only listing one, and calling it "front". What do you know?)

here's what I found underneath today: (why couldn't it be the passenger side only?)

You can see the obstacles to the drivers' side, here: (you can also see the juice that leaked out of the hydraulic motor mount, down across the steering rack)

passenger side:

Hmm... I have to say, after having watched your motor rock like that in the clip, , I think I just figured out how the previous owner crushed the dipstick tube at some point...

for any who have done this procedure: can I just unbolt the (looks like three) bolts holding the steering rack to the crossmember and swing it out of the way? And then reassemble in reverse, without any issues?

On a 3.0 you can, but instead of swinging it out of the way use tie wire to hold it when lowered out of the way.

True, but not so much for dropping the rack, I believe.

well, turns-out that wasn't a bad job after all.

about 30 minutes, start to finish. including about 5 minutes I wasted trying to find a way to do it without dropping the steering rack.

solved all of the "not-quite-noise".

on to the next item......
