Replacing spark plugs
Where can I get the correct parts for the intake manifold, I have already replace the drivers side spark plugs ( Bosch platinum/iridium quad electrodes spark plugs). I thought the gaskets for the intake manifold are the same for both sides of the intake but when looking at a couple of jaguar sites, I see a lower and upper gasket....upper not available but lower was, what is the difference? I am wanting to use oem if possible or a higher end quality version.
It is confusing, to say the least. What some sites call the "lower intake gasket" is actually the gasket between the cylinder head and the plastic manifold that holds the fuel injector. What is sometimes called the "plenum gasket" is actually the upper gasket that seals the large aluminum air tube assy to the top portion of the plastic plenum.
Go to www.rockauto.com and pay attention to your body number, you should find it easy to get the right gaskets. Consider doing the valve cover gaskets while you are at it and even on a 2008, I'd suggest replacing the breather hose.

From what I have seen, everything is in excellent condition, but it is original though and with 98000 miles, it's time for a 100k checkup. The car was owned by elderly couple but he was a corp exec and put lots of highway miles on it in the Dallas market. I did the same thing in my job and put as much mileage on what is now my sons ride( Honda accord hybrid). My daughter is thinking she is getting the Jag in a few years lol.
At that age/mileage, do the valve cover gaskets. Make sure to take a razor and trim the areas that have the black silicone flat against the head surface. Clean it with brake parts cleaner, then put dabs of black silicone in place before new valve cover.
Recommend letting it set up overnight before cranking up. They will start leaking soon.

Fel-Pro aftermarkets are just as good as OEM IMO.
Here is a list I complied a few years back for a fellow members 2003 MY which is basically the same parts, if you go aftermarket route.

Oh so much to do, but I will have fun doing it
I haven't really work on a car since my 82 Camaro, I was hard on that car, three engines, five transmissions and rip the rear end completely off the frame from running it hard.....ahhhh those teenage years.

Ha I hear you, '84 TA with the HO 5 liter, 5 speed. Every Saturday morning I was putting in shift forks in the gear box, broke those damn aluminum things like crazy.
Your 3.0 is really not a prob to work on. I still can't figure out why no one other than dealers will work on them.

It looks pretty easy, same basic setup, when my Dad and Uncle where alive, My dad had a mechasnic shop and my uncle had a wrecking yrd, I help them a lot when I was in my twenties, I work on a lot of different types of vehicles when they needed my help, I didnt choose that profession though, I went into management for a global corp and I am on my 28th year with that company. I am grateful though that I learn a lot about mechanics, just having to rack my memory, just as long as I dont get into rebuilding engines and transmissions etc, i should be fine.
