Hello,
I have a obviously bad tensioner pulley on my 2005 S-Type R.
It has a noticable wobble and associated noise.
I think the tensioner arm is ok, and presume it is just the bearing, although I may not know until I get it off for sure.
It does not seem possible to remove the pulley without removing the arm.
I can release the tension and remove the belt no problem.
With some more difficulty I loosened the 15mm bolt all the way (I think it is held in place with a clip on the inside but not sure).
But how do I pull the tensioner arm off?
I searched the forum and mostly found information about idler pulleys, and one post described using a puller.
Do a need a puller to get this off? and if so any recommendations as to which one?
The arm and pulley in question are circled in red in the image below which I found on another thread.
Thanks for any guidance.
Sorry please ignore.
I put a pry bar on it and it popped right off.
And yes was just the pulley. The bearing was broken open and several ***** disintegrated.
For what it is worth, removing the upper radiator hose upper side and pushing it out of the way makes the work much easier.
A bit of spilled antifreeze, but much easier access.
Cheers
I’m about to do the same job but I was waiting until I could find the tensioner for the supercharger because I don’t wanna have to drain the fluid and take all that crap off twice. I think I was having trouble finding the correct tensioner assembly for the supercharger and that’s why I haven’t done the job yet but I’ve got my new tensioner for the alt and water pump and two new belts at the ready.
