I 've had a search both on this forum and google but did not find a conclusive answer.

I am looking for a set of roof bars for my 2004 S-type.
From what I have read these bars should 'grab' into the top doorframes and fixed by screws into said doorframes.
It seems these bars a quite hard to find, Thule made them but none around on second hand sites.

Now I was wondering, is it possible to use the clamping versions used on X-type, XE or simular.
Anyone any experience?
Your thoughts, experiences, ideas are much appreciated.

I have seen some 'naked roof' bars and probably should have a look.
I do hesitate a bit a I fear for damage, probably solvable with some inner tube from a bike or something simular.
Also I quite like the idea of having Jag bars on my Jag, hence the question if anyone has any experience with the more available XE bars for instance.
