Hello everyone
this might be a stupid question but here goes
Driving home got restricted Performance light
lost all power engine running like crap
codes p1646 p1647 pre cat 02 sensors are dead
Checked plugs all 8 are Black as and engine very hard to start and only just runs
My question is there any other vehicle make that uses the same 02 sensors as the 4.2 stype or is there any other like the 3.0 v6 that use same sensors
Reason I ask is none available new in New Zealand brand new
so I have to get from uk or united States and now won't arrive till new year
As if a 3.0 sensors would work I would put second hand in just to have vehicle running over Christmas break
Thanking you

My 2005 S-Type 4.2 NA had a fuel pump issue when I bought it. I removed the pump and tested & replaced it. I also replaced the pressure sensor and fuel filter.
Car ran fine, but had a fourth gear fault and cruise control did not work. I changed the rear ABS sensors and the cruise worked.
I had to change the transmission valve body to fix the fourth gear fault. A solenoid was sticking.
Car drove fine for several months... then fuel milage began to decrease. I drove on a 150 mile round trip with no issue.
After returning, I needed to go out.... the Jag was hard to start and would die when put in gear.
I checked the fuel pressure at the injection rail... 20 psi.
Seeing this, I removed the driver's side tank cover and inspected the lines and pump. The little plastic syphoning pump had blown apart.
I removed the high pressure hose from it and plugged the hose. Started engine and tested fuel pressure again... over 80 psi (pegged the gauge).
Shut motor off. Removed the damaged pump and repaired it by plastic welding and installed an in tank fuel regulator on the high pressure line. ($27 @ Amazon)
Note: The regulator has three fuel connections... INLET/OUTLET/GAUGE. The Gauge and Outlet are common ports and are open to each other.
I connected the high pressure line from the main pump to the Gauge port and the plastic pump high pressure connection to the outlet port.
The Inlet port was left open. The fuel flows out the Inlet of the regulator.
I started the engine and adjusted the pressure to 50 psi at the injector rail. (You have to shutdown the engine to adjust the pressure)
This keeps the pressure at the main pump at 55 to 60 psi and reduces pressure on the system.
I did not check the pump pressure... but it would be higher than rail pressure due to fuel filter and fuel line pressure drop.
Car runs fine now and mileage is good. No codes showing. Instant Fuel Milage at 70 mph on lever highway = 31 mpg (with cruise set).
Note: Before installing the regulator, I set it using another pump and water to 50 psi. Installed, the fuel pressure at the rail was 42 psi ... requiring more adjusting.
