I put new battery on so far so good 1 week in

The battery turns out to be the problem for a lot of these weird electrical problems.

Glad it worked for you!

If there was a drain, replacing battery may have fixed it, if low battery voltage was triggering modules and such. But if the drain still exists, replacing battery only masks the drain, requiring more days to elapse before the car will not start. I would be interested in knowing does car start after several days of sitting.

The last post to this thread was made just shy of nine years ago... The OP has not posted to the forum in roughly three years, so unless you are very lucky, a response is likely not forthcoming.

I just recently had my 2002 S-Type broken down for 4 months. The battery was going flat. The PATS disabled the engine. And on the couple of occasions that I got lucky and magically got it to start, it wouldn't shut down. I finally found out what the problem was. In the trunk/boot look for a fuse called the transit relay fuse. Remove it and throw it as far away from the car as possible. Look it up and you will see what it's for. I scratched my head for 4 months and hopefully I can save you some trouble.

Replacing a battery will not fix a battery drain. You need to troubleshoot the source of the current drain.
