S Type, beeping sound when brakes applied
I have a 2006 S type. When it is raining or wet out and I apply my brakes, I get a "beeping" sound. My Jag service adviser, has no idea what is causing this "beeping" sound. Actually he said a Jag he was driving did the same thing that wet morning, and he had no idea why.
The owners manual does not address this issue. To me it sounds like some kind of warning that the brakes are wet.
Any thoughts?

No, it is clearly a "beep", much like the beep that you get from the parking assist when you get to close to an object. Only happens when it is raining or wet and the brakes are applied.
any fault in the braking system causes a fast paced beeping. Sometimes with, or without a fault warnig light and message. In your case its probably something like the abs reading low resistance etc.. due to dampness.
Im my case i get the beeping everytime i shut down and take the key out due to the parking brake..I have original rotors and pads on on 03 str so the brake cant engage firmly enough.

Hi All,
This is just a thought. If you apply the electric operated Hand Brake when moving, you do get a bleeping noise then. Mine is not as loud as the reversing bleeps, but fairly audible. My thought is, due to the dampness about the breaking system when this is happening, is this being transmitted from the Hand Brake mechanism in someway due to a faulty electrical connection or something like. Also it may be worth trying to re-calibrated the Hand Brake to see if this would cure the problem. It could when wet, be seized clevis pins or the like in the Hand Brake mechanism causing the problem, as it works the same set of brake pads as the Foot Brake.
As said, this is just a thought or should I say thoughts.
Regards.
