S Type front undertray
Any advise would be appreciated.. I have just purchased a 2001 S Type 3L V6. The front undertray was damaged but probably repairable. How important is it in the functioning of the car? I assume it plays a role in the cooling, air to the radiator. It seems to has two ducts either side plus a small duct in the middle..

It serves two main purposes:
1. structural - the flexible front bumper is effectively only secured to the vehicle at the top lip. The undertray fixed to the bottom lip adds rigidity.
2. airflow - ambient air passing through the radiator is directed around the engine. Without the undertray it would take the path of least resistance and most would go down and under the engine.

I posted a write up on how I repaired mine. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...repair-242634/
Also one of the NASA style vents connects to the cooling pipe for the alternator.

after purchasing my s type , i noticed my front under tray was completely gone . and being specific to the STR , i had to buy a brand new Genuine one from Jaguar New Zealand .
it arrived in two weeks and the price was very good . $900 nzd . i thought that was very fair for such a large panel including shipping .
$900 NZD was very fair. Did it have the insulation panel? The insulation panel must serve a purpose but the plastic surrounding it doesn't last too long...

May I ask what part number you used for the STR undertray?
The one we have is suspected not to be the correct one as it sags low and bashes the road occasionally.
Thanks
