S-Type Fuel Data Computer Error
Hi all,
Just bought a 2004 S Type 2.5 V6 and when I went to fill it with fuel, the fuel gauge went to empty after topping th tank and now an error message comes up with 'Fuel Data Computer Error'. I tried the disconnect the battery thing and when I reconnected and turning on the ignition it went to half full and then tripped again. So I tried again and same thing happened. Is this a common fault? Is there anything else I can try or do I have to get it onto a diagnostic computer in a garage?
The other strange fault I seem to have is that the heating system seems to be very hot even when turned down, but, if I use in manual I get cold air out the windscreen and hot air out the middle blowers? Could the two faults be connected or is this another fault separately? I am new to these models and don't know the common faults. Could anyone suggest something?
Cheers

It is generally to address one issue/problem per post... Otherwise the responses can get rather hard to follow. That said:
1) it sounds like your sending unit in the fuel tank is acting up. The fuel pump/sending unit is located on the right side of the tank under the rear seat cushion. There are a couple of YouTube videos out that shoe how to get at the unit.
2) The DCCV is designed to default to an "open" position allowing full heat when it fails, so I would start by checking this component for proper function.
Also, it is customary to stop by the New Members forum and post a short :introduction" as that will help you to obtain site privileges more quickly.
Good luck getting your S-type sorted!
