2003 S type 4.2 gas guage never reads full even when topping up-- what to do?

 

Most likely the sensor(s) in the tank. Be ultra careful f you want to DIY and plan about petrol, vapour, sparks, etc.

 

Got the same problem Kent. Planning to have mechanic pull out the rear seat and dive into the tank/sensor issue. Use the forum search feature for info. on tank/sensor threads. As jagv8 points out...be sure ya snuff out lit stoggies at the door.
