Nice find but how come you say they charge $5-600 for each arm? Our x-type control arms which includes the ball joint only cost $220 at the dealer. I'd imagine they aren't that much different...Good deal on that though....

the s type vertical link.. not really a arm.. cost 450-550.. you can get the ball joints.. separate for 2 for $60 .. i have seen people do them .. but they don't really last long.

We sell them both ways. I have the vertical link with b/j and brake shield for $320 LH or $280 RH. The ball joints only run $75 each. The last a reasonable amount of time but must be pressed to R&R.

So he must be speaking of something else...the lower control arm for the x is only somewhere around 200 bucks...

I guess he's talking for the S type, not the X. I just bought one (front lower ball joint for my S type) por U$53.00. S&H included. I hope it works!!

Yeah I saw that they don't even sell a ball joint replacement you must replace the whole arm (liability issue if the ball joint breaks off!) I just couldn't imagine the lower control arm being greatly different than the s-type especially 3 times the cost!

Aquill, the S-Type ball vertical link runs from the Hub up to the upper control arm. Yours on the X is a true lower arm bolts to the subframe and into the bottom of the hub. Think of an A shape. S-Type is like a swan neck shape.

Hmmm...that's weird because that car isn't hugely bigger than our cars like the xj's are...oh well...

Lemforder is good. I brought the sway bar links for rear and I was told bmw uses lemforder as well.

I remember having the lower rear arm, RHS replaced on my S-type; the cost of the part was £274 from the interweb, dealer price £465.
Now here's something astonishing -- I was talking to my tame mechanic at Scotch John's here in Leeds, and he happened to have in his hand a very similar looking part. It had a ball joint and two metalastik bushes. Idly I said "what's that for"? To which he replied, "that Peugeot over there". Almost without thinking I said "how much is that then"?
He said "£27". I said "WHAT"? He repeated the price -- "£27".
I was struck dumb, unusual for me. ONE TENTH the cheapest Jag. part? Something not right there.
Leedsman.
p.s. please don't anyone tell him I described him as tame -- he's a scotsman. I don't want to be separated from my breath.

I had an x type before my s type and 3 kids under 12, the back seat is wider in an x type. i always found that bizarre.

You can get them (Ball Joints for the S-Type) for less from other sellers - I paid $70 or so a while back for 2 lower front ball joints.

Also, before anybody buys parts from this or other sellers, it's a good idea to type the name of the seller (DeutscheParts / HAMBURG TECHNIC GERMANY) into Google and see what other peoples' experiences have been...

I'd rather stick with Lemfoerder (OEM Jaguar, a German company that designs/manufactures in Germany) or other parts that are really Made in Germany... (or Made in USA/UK/Canada/Australia/Spain/France/Italy/Japan/Netherlands/... -> you get the idea...)

If buying on ebay, I'd buy them from Euromarque - they are in Houston and are a large rebuilder and manufacturer (e.g. inner tie rod ends - otherwise not available for ZF steering racks) of Jaguar parts.

Here's the link to their ebay store (not affiliated with them apart as a customer)
steering suspension parts, jaguar replacement parts items in euromarque automotive parts store on eBay!
