Default 2003 S-Type with no AC

I had the same problem being described: At idle, the AC was gone. At highway speeds, it returned.

As time passed though, it got worse to where it stopped producing cool air even at highway speeds or just for a few minutes at a time. Eventually I ended up with no AC.

I would like to get a whole kit, if that's possible. I have not found one yet.

If anyone knows where I can get like repair kits, condenser, compressor, hoses, etc. please let me know.

With 169K miles on your car I think the A/C compressor has done its duty. I found Chinese made brand new compressors on EBay for very good prices. I got a compressor, filter/dryer and the expansion valve with no core charge for under $250. Including shipping.

It's been 6 months and several thousand miles and everything is working good.

I have the same issue. My ac works fine at 1500 and above but isn't as cool at idle. I want to try the valve and spring swap but do you have to evacuate the system first?

Yes. In this order:
1 - evac the R134a from the system
2 - do the TSB: take out back plate and swap positions of the spring and valve
3 - evac and refill with right amount of R134a

I saw the thread on doing this and that you need a vacuum pump and guage manifold but where does the r134 go when you do this?

If you have the proper A/C recovery machine the R134a goes in there.

If you mean where does the 134a go when refilling. Then you charge thru the A/C gauge manifold into the low side port.

I don't have a recovery tank so I guess I should just have someone evacuate it for me! I am not an ac guy but the way the thread made it seem was all you needed was the pump and the guage so that's why I asked the question. Thanks for the insight.

(On a previous car) I got a mobile a/c guy to do it but any shop can empty the system. Then I repaired the system and had a prolonged vacuum held and finally system refilled. It's not magical and also isn't costly.
