Default S-Type R 2004 ALternator Part number

Hey all,

So a few months of fun and wet roundabouts have passed with my fixed-up STR, and I have been a very happy owner.

Then a few weeks ago, I got a battery light. Further investigation by my friendly local autospark revealed almost nothing coming out of the alternator and a new one was recommended. I'm fine with this as the item removed looks like a factory original and its nearly 130k old so no issues having to replace.

Now this is a 10 year old semi exotic and I expect to spend some money, but Jag wantedover £500, plus an exchange unit, which I thought was a bit silly - to be honest not an amount of money I had spare at the time - so i opted for the temporary fitment of an aftermarket copy. Everything is now fine, except the battery light is still on and this is a well documented issue with aftermarkets I have read up on searching on here.

Now I have my wheels back, I am keeping an eye on local scrappers/ebay for the 'correct' alternator so I can swap them out at my own leisure. The Parts catalogue says the 03-05 Alternator is part number C2C019630 but this gets very few hits, and doesn't seem to match the part numbers provided by Denso, who I understand are the OE supplier. Does anyone have a list of compatibilities and/or equivalent part numbers which I can use in my search? A friend said Denso 104210-6120 was equivalent, but I can only find evidence this fits the XF4.2. Any help much appreciated.

You found the problem with aftermarket alternators but if you kept the old factory unit I would send it out to get rebuilt.

If you are lucky they may be able to upgrade it too but the stock output is plenty.
