Default S-Type R tyres

Dear Guys

My used STR which I recently purchased arrived with Pirelli Zero tyres. Compared to my previous V6 3.0L there appears to be a lot of road noise and rear traction seems to be a bit wanting with lots of wheel spin. I realise the STR is a MUCH more powerful car but can anyone suggest how to cut down the road noise and improve traction with a better tyre?

Cheers, Russell.

I got rid of PZeros as soon as I could as I'd read they were noisy and poor grip - which was what I also found.

Conti DW tires are the quietest I have come across. Or just get an exhaust system that is louder than your tires!

Default Freight train

Dear Michael

Would you please tell me why your STR is named the freight train?

I can only assume that Michael called his car that because of the power. There is a saying here in the United States that a powerful car "pulls like a freight train" - meaning the car is powered by a powerful engine with immediate torque.

As for tires, I am extremely happy with the grip of my Hankook Ventus V12 evo - they feel as gripy of my former Michelin Pilot Sports which costs a bit more. I do not notice road noise, and my wheels are wider than stock STR wheels.

Lol UnderPressure has it right. It pulls like a freight train on the highway, never seeming to slow down. Err not that I speed or anything....

On my stock wheels, I went with Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Positions, which served me quite well and I didn't notice anything in the way of road noise. With my current setup, I have Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions, which are still fairly quiet, but the grip is phenomenal.

I just switched from p-zeros to Dunlop sport maxx gt and they seem pretty good. A big improvement traction wise. On my other rims I had a set of firestone Indy 500 and they hooked great and are pretty quiet o and cheap.
